Postgraduate Traineeships
Once you have finished your studies, you can apply for:
- a Postgraduate Traineeship (TPV), which is a requirement for graduates wishing to enrol in Section A of the Professional Order of Psychologists (SECOND-CYCLE/MASTER’S non-professional degree courses). Law no. 163/2021 and Interministerial Decree no. 567/2022
- An Undergraduate Vocational Traineeship is available for graduates wishing to enrol in Section B of the Professional Order of Psychologists (FIRST-CYCLE/BACHELOR'S degree courses).
- An Extracurricular Voluntary Internship lasts a minimum of two months and a maximum of six; it takes place at an organisation affiliated with the University of Padova. However, IT WILL NOT EARN YOU hours and days towards a vocational traineeship, which you need to take a State examination. It is simply an experience you can add to your CV. Extracurricular Voluntary Internships are governed by Veneto Region regulations on graduate traineeships.
For the regulations and required documentation, please see the Career Service website >Internships in Italy

- If the organisation is not university-affiliated, a specific agreement must be entered into.

RECOGNITION OF POSTGRADUATE PROFESSIONAL/VOLUNTEER WORK
Graduates may apply to have professional work carried out after they graduated recognised as their Postgraduate Traineeship (TPV) as long as this work was supervised by a psychologist who has been registered for at least three years in Italy’s Professional Order of Psychologists, as required by Interministerial Decree no. 567 of 20-06-2022. National Civilian Service is also a recognised activity, as long as it complies with the above requirements.
You can apply for recognition by submitting:
- a 1-to-2 page WRITTEN REPORT containing a fairly detailed description of the work you carried out. The report should be signed by you, the trainee, and COUNTERSIGNED by your psychology tutor, who must have been registered in the Professional Order for at least 3 years. It also needs to be STAMPED with the official stamp of your host organisation.
- a RECOGNITION FORM stating your personal details (name, surname, student number, degree course, telephone number), the host organisation’s details (address and tutor name), and the total number of hours you wish to have recognised.
You then need to send your documentation in a single PDF file to the Career Service at stage@unipd.it
Applications are evaluated and approved at the discretion of the Commission, which will assess on a case-by-case basis whether the regulations have been observed, whether the activity you wish to have recognised is compatible with the regulations, and whether it is scientifically, academically and professionally relevant.
The Commission will publish the results of its evaluation within one month of you submitting all of your documentation.
